Tabard Detail 1

I really enjoyed painting whimsy woman on fabric. I have to admit I did a lot of complaining and whining (my sister says) when I realized I had to finally sew a tabard using my 1970 Elna sewing machine to submit for the tabard challenge. She pushed me all the way!!!

I used a mix of acrylic, fabric medium and fabric paints for my painting. I accented with a gold metallic pen. The hair is Lutradur treated with paints and heat.

About My Art

My "Wild Women", "Birds of a Feather" and “Nativity” sculptures are hand sculpted and one of a kind. They are created with terra cotta clay and fired several times to 2000 degrees.

Then the fun really begins when I start creating a personality by adorning a sculpture with textiles that are ethnic or hand-dyed and hand painted. When that is completed I embellish them with more yarns, beads, wire, ribbons and feathers to complete the look.

My ceramic beads that I use in my necklaces are also handmade and fired to achieve the bright and fashionable colors. I also make beads out of fiber (accenting with wire and glass beads) to add interest and exciting colors to them.
